If you guys ever seen the movie Pay It Forward, then you realize it was the sweetest movie ever and ends with half a box of tissues wasted.Anyways, I´ve been working towards my Art Education degree forever! I started in 2009 and messed up really bad my first year at Marshall. Well I had this amazing Adviser, if you don´t know what that is its a person dedicated to help you pick your courses to help you get your degree and also answer any questions you might have while in college, who complete understood and was willing to help in any possible way.This was someone who believed in me, I never had a teacher or principle who believed in me. My high school adviser told me to drop out of school and just try for Beauty school, granted I was widely known for my talent in makeup and hair, but still it was heart breaking.So my adviser help me get back on to the right path and kept pushing me to stay in college. I was about to give up and she wouldn´t allow it.Recently, I gotten back to where I kind of need to be towards standards wise and I wouldn´t be here if it wasn´t for her.Last Friday I was finally transferred into my direct college for education. At Marshall they have a university college program that allows students who didn´t do so well during the ACT to basically have a second chance. You have to complete these courses in order to be submitted into Marshall University Like you can take other courses for your degree, but you have to take a intro to math and English along with a First year Seminar course. All these have to be completed by your third or fourth semester at Marshall or you get kicked out of the college completely.I did it finally after 5 years of being in and out of Marshall. So I signed the papers and we said our good byes. She told me that she really liked me and that she was proud that I kept going. She also went on about how she liked that I was different and didn´t conform to the rest of the students.My advisers name is Sherri Stepp and I was so touched from all the stuff she did for me to help me get where I am now.So as soon as I finished crying my little doe eyes out I got on to the computer and order this love lady an edible arrangement, if you don´t know what that is its a fruit bouquet and sometimes they come in shapes like flowers or in my case cupcakes. I ordered her the cupcake bouquet.and a thank you balloon. I also typed her a heart felt message into the thank you card that would be attached to this cupcake beauty.In the card I wrote about how I appreciate her hard work and how she help me do the impossible. I also went on to tell her that I would always remember what she did for me, because she actually believed in me and that I never had that before.I had it sent to her office on Tuesday because Monday was Martin Luther King Day. Here was the response email I received about her deliver:Brianna,A lovely fruit basket just arrived! And now that the tears have subsided, I want you to know that it was a pleasure working with you, too. I am so happy that you have reached this first milestone in being able to declare your major. I know you will be a fabulous art teacher! No matter what happens, never quit!Sherri L. SteppDirector of University CollegeMarshall UniversityI cried like a baby after reading this. I made her day and I showed her that I cared about the hard work she did for me. Moments like this doesn´t seem to happen enough in the world and it´s hard breaking.I text my friends every morning to say ¨Good Morning¨,and usually write encouraging things like, ¨your beautiful and strong so don let others tear you down.¨ Little things like that shows them that I care enough to think about them every morning.So fellow monsters please pay it forward. Take a moment in your day to tell someone that you appreciate them or that you respect them. You will see the shock or the happiness spread across their face.
