Shockacon Part 5 (Why did I do this to myself)
So after finishing my Greta the Gremlin costume, I decided to create a simple costume for me to wear on Sunday. Yes I went out for both days. I already knew what character I wanted to do. If any of you fellow monsters ever seen Cabin in the Woods then you'll know this character.
It's the sugar plum fairy from Cabin in the Woods! See how simple her costume is. So for her Ballerina wear I went back to Magic Makers to stock up on a body suit, tights, and pointed shoes. First off I should of never went for the pointed toe shoes, because I'm not a professional dancer and can't stand on my toes for more than 5 seconds and also because it was expensive! Now the tutu part was the hardest part to find surprising. I had to go to a Halloween store to purchase the right tutu because I wanted the extra poof. Once I got her costume together I just dumped it all in the bath tub full of tea bags and coffee grounds. Let it soak for two days and then dry for one day, they were perfect!
The mask was simple to. I took a regular design yourself mask from A.C Moore and cut out some angles with a expo knife. I then painted the outside of the mask with liquid latex to give it that human skin look and added foam fangs, also painted the gums with car paint to give it that wet looking shine.
I then outlined around the red gums with a hot glue gun to five it that risen look. This mask took me an hour to do, just because of the cutting and gluing of the foam teeth.
Although not many people recognized the costume at the con, I was still happy with it.
Now that I had all my costumes done I had to construct my sister some awesome boots for her Padma Costume. I took a pair of gogo boots from the Halloween and hot glued Foam shapes to it. She was tickled to death with the outcome.
Now that everything is finished, Shockacon time!
