So happily this year I was able to find a El Camino close by for sale in my price range, but unfortunately it was a 82....ugh. All I could think is, it's better than not owning an El Camino. All I had to do is wait for my student refund to come in and the car was mine. The owner was super nice and we chat back and forth about the cars. Sadly, a guy came by and bought it a day before my refund came in, I was so crushed.
I'm a new driver and it literally took me forever to get my license...damn parallel parking! With the help of my boyfriend and is ability to push me to better myself, I was able to pass the test and become a legal driver! I actually owned a Purple Saturn that was perfect for me. It was bright purple and need a new paint job, but the inside was like stepping into my mind. It had bright neon green door handles, window pullers, and other little detail parts for the interior. It then had bright yellow door panels. Then to add more to this creative car, someone airbrushed little ghost and ghouls all around the car.. like it was on the panels, the dash, around the meters and CD player. It was amazing and they even had a awesome glove box panel that had a air brushed piece that has a skeleton wearing a jokers had hugging a slot machine with the words, ¨life is a gamble¨ around them.
This purple people eater Saturn was a dream for my first car, it was super cheap and all I had to do was learn how to drive stick. Well since I didn't have my drivers license and my sister was in need of a new car, I was nice of her to let her use it until I got my license. It was just sitting there and the poor purple people eater needed some action. So I was being a sweet sister and signed it over for the time being. That was the worst mistake ever.
My poor Saturn was destroyed by her. I didn't realize my sister was going to destroy my car during the time she had it, but I was wrong. I mean who borrows an item and doesn't take good care of it? Is that a common manner everyone follows? She was able to destroy the back bumper, crack the front panel near the wheel, and than somehow lose the jumper cable that was holding the front bumper up so perfectly, that when I first bought it I didn't know a jumper cable was doing so. Then to put a cherry atop the cherry, she let her friend drive her and my car home and he ended up not knowing how to drive a clutch. In the end, my car became unusable because it needed so much work. So it just sat there, she kept promising she would get it fixed by the time I got my license, but it just sat.
The topic of my Saturn is one we've silently agreed to never bring up because it angers me so much. So years past by and I did get my license, but the car was just going to cost to much money to fix and my sister wasn't being reliable of fixing what she done, so I sold it to a junk yard for a lot less than I bought it for. It was a lesson I'm only going to allow myself to learn once in my lifetime.
The Saturn was never legally mine though, so the next car I bought would officially be mine. Which means technically my REAL first car. That means me having insurance on it, my name on the title and registration, and my first licensee plate.
So the El Camino was sold and I felt pretty hopeless until I remembered one of my old coworkers boyfriend happen to buy and sell old cars and out anything he happen to have an El Camino. So as soon as the thought hit my mind I called her up and BAM got the number to her boyfriend. He still had the El Camino and was more than happy to get the thing out of his yard.
I went to go check out the thing with the biggest fear it was going to be crap or a big big fixer up, because it was just sitting under a tarp for years. When he pulled the tarp up my heart dropped and I started jumping for joy. The beauty was in good condition and it was a 1964.......so much better than that 1982 I was going to buy. All he had to do was put a carburetor in it and it was in running condition. The rest would be a project for myself. First thing first, I would never buy a car that had body damage and big rust holes, because that right there is a lost cause. Now if it's a little rusted and clearly needs new paint than hell yeah I put money on it. That way you get to personalize it as your car and get to put more pride into it. The interior of the car was something that almost got me not to buy it. The top floor was in horrible shape and it would only take a hard kick and you be Flintstoning the thing. But surprise, the owner had the new floor plans and all I had to do was to get someone to weld the suckers in. The rest was simple cosmetics, new doors panels, a new cover and stuffing for the seats, a new dash change, new CD player and speakers, and get a glove box. The amount will add up because it's an old car, but it's going to be worth it.
I paid for it right than and we drove it away the next week. Sadly we didn't get to far because of a gas line was rusted and the gas wasn't getting through like needed, but a call to my friend Travis and he was able to pick it up and fix it for me in a week.

As you can see it's not much work and I hoping to share with you readers my journey in getting my El into Monster status. I take this car as a sign that even though your dream can be big, like owning a very old car, you can still achieve it if you push yourself to believe that it will happen. I had the dream I would own a beauty like this and my family and friends laughed at my passion and now they can suck it because this baby is MINE!! YAY!
I hope this post is inspiring and you enjoined seeing the car I'm always talking about. Until next time my fellow monsters. BYES!
